The Mercador Projection is a very important map to learn about as it has been the way in which people have looked at the world for many centuries. It is very good for navigation you can draw a straight course from a place to another using latitude and longitude lines. It distorts area and distance near the poles.

This Map should be taught because it shows how maps often have a third dimension to them which can represent a variety of different things and are not drawings on flat surfaces.

I included the Gall-Peters Projection as it is a map which is surging in popularity as it shows how big things really are in comparison to each other which challenged a lot of the knowledge people had about geography.

Bad Maps
Why are they Bad?
These maps were all not chosen to be taught as they are all very specific, basic maps which don't show us new things and are all unrelated to most of us in Seattle even though the do carry cool information.
